This iconic trail system was started in 2013 and now spans more than 30 miles. The trail starts at the entrance to Compton Gardens and heads north through the pristine Ozark forests on its way to Bella Vista. Three distinct phases of the trail feature incredible bridges, art works, and purpose-built features for every level of cyclist. The Razorback Greenway (paved 40-mile pathway) runs through the heart of the park, and provides access to all three phases of the trail system as it makes its way north to Bella Vista.
A central feature is the “Castle,” a unique, purpose-built stone and iron structure and an elevated platform that serves as a central launchpad or hub at the top of a hill. It’s designed to funnel riders into a variety of downhill trails. The Castle is designed for “rip and repeat” laps, allowing riders to easily climb back up a return trail (like Lombard) to hit the downhill runs again. It’s one of the “crown jewels” of the Bentonville mountain biking scene, providing an easy-to-access spot for gravity-fed riding.
The skills park in the middle of Slaughter Pen is a major hub and a fantastic resource for riders of all levels, especially after its recent updates. The Slaughter Pen Skills Park is specifically designed for progression, meaning you can start on small, easy features and gradually work your way up to bigger, more challenging ones.
The Masterpiece trail in Bentonville is not just a trail—it’s one of the most unique and recognizable mountain biking features in Northwest Arkansas, blending art and riding into one experience. It’s famous for being a true “rideable work of art.” The trail is meticulously crafted primarily from metal and concrete, incorporating designs that often represent various bicycle parts (like a colossal metal sprocket).
